13 Knots Wicca Course
Course Content: Practical Knots
The practical knots are a set of nine ninety minute sessions dealing with the practical aspects of the practice of Wicca. They cover circle casting, divination, the recognition of stars, crystals and trees and a number of other areas of importance within Wicca.
Knot 1. Getting Started in Wicca
This session provides the basic information required to begin the practice of Wicca including, developing a daily, monthly and annual practice
Knot 2. Circle Casting
This Knot deals with the 'how to' of casting a magic circle. It also covers the use of banishing rituals, for example the Orations.
Knot 3. The Tarot
Knot 3 deals with divination, in particular the use of the tarot deck. The meaning of the major arcana is explained and the basic approach to do a simple reading.
Knot 4. Astronomy
Knot 4 deals with the recognition of constellations and finding the planets in the sky. It deals specifcially with those aspects that are important within Wiccan practice
Knot 5. Astrology
This knot deals with the basics of astrology, in particular how to read a birth chart and how to build astrology into ritual.
Knot 6. Crystal Recognition
This session deals with the recogniton of 40 crystals that are widely used by Wiccans and provides some basic information about their use in magical work.
Knot 7. Tree Recognition
This knot deals with how to recognise
Knot 8. The Calendar of Wicca
Knot 8 deals with the calendar of Wiccan and details the types of festivals that will take place at different times of the year
Knot 9. Wiccan Magic
The final knot in the main series of practical knots deals with the practice of magic. It details the key approaches taken when practicing crystal, knot and candle magic.
After Knot 9 those looking to continue will join with the academic knots as the sessions are largely practical in nature
10. The Nature of Illusion
This knot is an explanation of illusion and reality of spirituality from a Wiccan perspective.
Knots 11-13: Guidance to initiation
Following Knot 10 students will decide if they wish to pause their study or continue on to the practice of Wicca within a
coven. For those who decide to continue they will typically be invited to a coven meeting where their forward progress into a praxis within a Wiccan coven would be discussed.
11. Coven ritual attendance: the members will be introduced to their coven and will be invited to a full moon sabbat to ensure that the practice is suitable for them if they wish to join a coven
12. Initiation explained, giving a copy of our grimoire and explaining the symbols
13. The initiation
Following the first 13 Knots there is further training with the coven. This typically takes the form of a further 12 knots. Following this training in Witchcraft may be offered to some students.
